Had a blast in Nashville
It was quite a surreal experience, hearing the songs come to life. It was hard work, with intense rewrites and discussions about each song. But, it was fun and inspiring at the same time. We had many laugh breaks and I felt very comfortable there.
I was sad to leave, as we really hit a groove the last day, getting 3 songs knocked out. One song is a completely new one, that we wrote on the fly, after Dan & Carl just starting playing together and stumbled across a beautiful piano/guitar sound and melody. It’s called “I Pray,” and it might be my favorite.
On this initial trip, we accomplished getting music and direction for 5 songs. I head back in February for another round of rewrites and music collaboration. Hopefully, I’ll do lead vocals on a few of the songs and I’ll come home with backing tracks for them. I’m eager to hear how the songs evolve from this first phase.
