Keeps getting better …

I was in Nashville two weeks ago, for my second trip. We picked up right where we left off and were able to really move on the album. We accomplished a lot – Carl & Dan got all the musical direction planned out. We did scratch vocals, rewrites and even wrote some entirely new songs.
I’m continually amazed who I get to work with. I really enjoyed watching them work and hearing their brilliancy, as they added a bit of this and a little of that to the songs. I felt a little like a fly on the wall, being privileged to sit in on their discussions and sessions. The best part is, these are “my” songs. I say that in all humility, since they are so much a collaboration. I just get the honor (and large task) of performing and selling the work. Some songs started with my lyrics or a melody, some started with their melody and I added lyrics, and they are all a wonderful combination of all of our talents and ideas.
I’m really proud of the work. It’s now up to me to promote myself. Since I used to do that in PR, it’s not so much of a stretch, but when you’re not selling someone else’s product and it’s now your voice, talents and essentially, your heart on the line, it’s a different sell. I have complete confidence in the finished product and I’m looking forward to going on tour to area churches and ministries this Summer.
Since I got back, I performed “I Need to Be” and “I Pray” several times at different events. I’ll be doing another performance March 15th at my home church. I’ll sing those, along with “Summer in My Soul.” I’m excited to see the reaction to that song – it’s so much fun and the music the guys put on it, is so cool. Come on out and check it out.
