WHAT'S YOUR GIFT?

1,000th Tweet

So, apparently I missed my 1,000th tweet. Truthfully, I saw it approaching last week and I thought I’d do a really cool post for my mini-milestone. But I lost track, got busy, got sick and well, it slipped right by. And, you’re thinking, why does this matter? Ok – bear with me. In my little world, it matters, because it tells me I’m too scattered. I’m not focused.

You see – I’m kind of all over the place – with my emotions, my moods, my responsibilities. I was talking to my brother the other day and we had a chat about having so many jobs to get done … I told him how we’re not very organized – PASSIONATE, but not organized. He offered to help (that’s one of his gifts), God bless him. Of course, he’s a state away, has a full-time job and a family. It’s not something I can really delegate to him. The hard part is finding a way to get the jobs done that are really important. And, fitting in those that maybe aren’t.

And, all of these jobs come at a time when we’re already busy, over-extended, tired, exhausted (now sick) and we have unexpected doctor visits, prescription bills … typical life, right?

Yes – but juxtapose all this with what’s going on in Haiti and it seems laughable. What those precious people wouldn’t give to be busy with activities and family life and going to the doctor (and waiting GASP! for an extra 45 minutes after your allotted appointment time). What freedoms we enjoy, complain about and take for granted.

So, I’m scattered and I forgot about my 1,000th tweet. Big deal. There’s a lot more that matters to me, to the world and to God. I needed that proverbial mirror put in front of me, so I could see my own selfishness and pride. In the coming days, weeks, months, we will be getting our giving plan in order. In big and small ways, WE WANT TO BE USING OUR GIFTS TO SERVE.

We sponsor two darling boys from Zambia through World Vision. This wonderful organization is already on the ground in Haiti serving, helping, doing and giving. If you’d like to contribute to World Vision, you can do so here.

USE YOUR GIFTS!
